“MINSEI- JIDO IIN” Q&A
“MINSEI- JIDO IIN” are volunteers who are commissioned to conduct welfare activities and child- rearing counseling.
What is their main purpose?
With a spirit of social service, “MINSEI-JIDO IIN” aim to help build a community where anyone can live safely and comfortably.
To accomplish that, they offer consultation for residents, as well as advice and assistance to achieve independence in most aspects of life.
What are their activities?
Regarding problems related to children, elderly, handicapped and fatherless/ motherless families:
- Provide counseling in a warm and informal atmosphere.
- Provide consultation regarding personal problems and daily life concerns (please come with an interpreter in case you do not speak Japanese)
- Provide information and guidance regarding social services and public assistance programs.
- Serve as a bridge between you and related institutions (community and local administration) in order to provide necessary help.
Also, they offer advice to problems related to domestic violence, violation of elderly and child’s rights, loneliness, social isolation, etc.
